High Fidelity

I finally got around to watching this film today. I read the book a month ago or so. (Not sure, check my archives! :p) and I loved it. It's mainly about music, so I can relate. The love story is great and somewhat a statement on what men are really like inside.

Then when I realised there was a film based on the book, starring John Cusack and Jack Black, I wanted to watch the film straight away. Jack Black plays the role of Barry very well. Even if the book is set in London and the film is set in Chicago, it works very well.

So, I watched that when I got home from the Nye residence today, I finished watching around 5.50pm and decided to set up my PSTwo and my iDock that I recieved. I thought I'd stick in my Foo Fighters DVD I got from Christian for Christmas. I absolutely love it and I want to buy the CD now aswell. It's such a different approach from their normal tracks and very reminisent of Nirvana's Unplugged performance. Dave Grohl talks about Kurt Cobain and Nirvana in the DVD too, and even performs two of the songs he wrote whilst in Nirvana, Marigold and Friend of a Friend.

Anyway, on the lines of High Fidelity, I'll make it Top 3, not Top 5 because I haven't decided on it as of yet, but here are my Top 3 records:

1. "Flake" by Jack Johnson
2. "Emaline" by Ben Folds Five
3. "Everlong" by Foo Fighters

I thought hard about this list and have done since reading High Fidelity. But this is what I got so far, hopefully I'll be able to get 2 more to make a Top 5. I'll have to do a lot more listening and maybe look into what CD's I have or songs that changed my life.

Anyway, I gotta go to sleep soon as I have work at 7.30am. :(

Rom Coms

I don't know why, but lately I've seen a few share of Romantic Comedies.

It's not that I hate them, but I could be watching something different, you get me? But these films reach out to me. I feel somewhat affected by them, y'kno, I hate being a bit sensitive sometimes, but what can I do?

I used to avoid watching Rom Coms all the time. I recall a time when I was browsing the Milton Keynes Library with Maye and she'd always pick out a Rom Com. I'd usually object to this idea and we'd usually end up choosing an action movie of some sorts. One time, I remember having a conversation with Maye about this film called, "Sliding Doors". We went to the MK Library to rent it out, but it wasn't there, so Maye even insisted that we buy it from HMV. She did you know. Maye is a persistant person, well, she was when she was with me.

I watched Sliding Doors with her and I enjoyed it. At the time though, I just thought it was another movie to watch, but now that I am thinking about it, why didn't I appreciate that I was with Maye, watching this film she bought, just so we could watch it together?

I just finished watching, "Serendipity", starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. And it's about fate and it really got me thinking. One of the things Maye and I used to rely on, well sometimes, was the guidance of God to take us where we needed to go. I think God blessed us both. That's honest truth. Through Maye, I've learnt what love is.

I watched "While You Were Sleeping" last night and I just finished watching "Serendipity", now I want to continue this John Cusack phase and watch "High Fidelity" since I read the book. I heard the movie was good too, plus, it's got Jack Black! :)

If only I could have watched these films with her, it would have made so much more sense...

Just Pondering

Pondering about what you ask? Life in general. Love, the future, the past, the present, work, school and university.

I had a really good conversion with Anisha at work today. She's really cool and a good person to talk to, and she really makes me feel happy when I talk to her. I was also talking to Jen and she was helpful too. With Anisha, I was discussing my whole philosophy of love and the kind of person I am, do girls really dig what I believe and the way I am? What if they don't? It's all confusing, this stage in life, something good will happen to me, I just have to wait for it.

In other news, I did my presentation with Marshall on Science-Fiction in Media Studies today. It went okay, but the class were so unresponsive, so it was awkward trying to get through to them. I showed them clips from Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Star Wars and The Matrix. I wanted to show the class clips from Heroes but there was no PC in the room and I had a data disc unfortunately. Damn.

Seems like I have my Christmas shopping list in my head done. It doesn't come out too expensive either which is good for me. I'll get it done after work on Saturday, despite the queues and the rush!

Thirty Eggs

I think I grew up too quickly and didn't spend the time ever being a destructive kid, I always left that to my brother. When I was young I was always the sensible one, not that I didn't do anything destructive or daring, just I never liked the concept of it.

Mark, Gavin, Peter, Marshall and I decided to go a car trip at the last minute as all of us were walking out of school. It wasn't exactly planned, more on-the-spot movement. Peter thought he'd be smart and bring an egg along on our journey.

One of the funniest parts of our journey is when Mark was doing 20mph on a busy road and all of us just couldn't stop laughing as we got tailgaters and angry queue of cars behind us! XDD!!!
We stopped off at Asda and Peter bought 30 eggs for £2.34. Peter and Gavin seemed to have wasted the eggs easy, but eventually they hit targets. One of the worst accounts is when Peter threw an egg, unware of pedrestrians and hit a car and the egg splat all over the lady.

The game finished when Gavin threw the egg and it exploded in the car and went all over the interior. OMG! One of the funniest things I've seen, and probably most retarded aswell. It was absolute havoc as we had Mark going crazy, Gavin screaming for tissues, Pete and Marshall in uncontrolable laughter and I was frantically trying to find the dry wipes! XDDD!

I just woke up from a small nap because I fell asleep while watching Crime Story. The thing is though, that I wasn't really that tired, I guess it was the car trip? Oh well, it was a good nap and I guess I needed it.

Put The Color Inside

Lunch time discussion was quite fun today, joking around with the gang and having good laugh. Just I will never take in the song, "Jump" by Van Halen the right way ever again! I made a Christmas Presents List today, and got a rough idea of what get to everyone. There goes my November paycheck. :(

I downloaded two albums today to get some new music into my library, of course I will eventually buy them. I downloaded, "The Best Of What's Around Vol.1" by Dave Matthews Band and "Heavier Things" by John Mayer. Going back to my Acoustic mode and I noticed most of my acoustic artists start with J.

Jack Johnson, José González, James Blunt, Jamie Cullum, Jason Mraz, John Mayer

I really enjoy the tracks, "Daughters" by John Mayer and "Crash Into Me" by Dave Matthews Band and I recommend you give those tracks a listen at least.

We Used To Laugh A lot

"We used to laugh a lot
But only because we thought
That everything good always would remain
Nothing's gonna change there's no need to complain"

- Mudfootball, Jack Johnson

"Come on baby
Throw me a right to the chin
Just one sign
That could show me that you give a shit
But you just smile politely
And I grow weaker and I..."
